What kind of preparation do I need before getting an airbrush spray tan?

You will need to shower, shave or wax and exfoliate prior to your spray tan. Once out of the shower, do not apply lotion to your skin because the tan will absorb best on clean, fresh skin.  Do not wear deodorant.  If you have deodorant on prior to your tan you will have the option of cleaning it off your skin.  If tan is applied over deodorant a slight discoloration may occur which will wash off when you shower after your tan.  Please note that people undergoing laser treatments are advised to avoid using sunless tanners.

How long does the process take?

Each spray tan takes 7-10 minutes and you will be dry enough to dress in loose fitting clothing immediately after your tan.  Our solution contains a bronzer for an immediately visible sun kissed glow.   After being tanned, avoid contact with water for at least 6 hours as your tan further develops.  It is best to sleep in your tan overnight and shower in the morning.  Any bronzer residue will rinse out of clothing/sheets as long as they are washed within 48 hours.

How long will my tan last?

Your  tan will last 7-10 days.  Moisturize your skin well and avoid exfoliation to extend the length of time your tan will last.  Chic Bronzing also offers tan extender products like SPF 15 Liquid Sunshine Lotion and an airbrush Tan-in-a-Can which will prolong the life of your tan, particularly on areas where a person uses more beauty products on and washes more frequently, like the face and hands.  

What makes a spray tan permanently change the color of my skin?

The solution that is airbrushed onto your skin contains a chemical called dihydroacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient.  DHA is a colorless chemical (it is derived from glycerin) that interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown color change.  DHA is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved, it is not absorbed through the skin into the body and it has no known toxicity.

Will I be orange?

No.  Because Chic Bronzing has their tanning solution specially blended, a Chic Bronzing airbrush tan will be odorless, will dry quickly without being sticky and will develop on your skin to create a natural golden brown and healthy looking glow.  In addition, unlike the one-size-fits-all "Mystic" tan booth, Chic Bronzing's adjustable airbrush application is customized to your unique skin tone and applied evenly with no streaks.

Will areas like my hands and feet look unnatural?

No.  A Chic Bronzing airbrush tan is applied by the experts (Marisa or Michelle--owners of Chic Bronzing) using top of the line professional airbrush equipment.  With 3 years experience, Marisa and Michelle have developed a strict and consistent method for the even application of their airbrush tan.  Your tan will be applied so well it will look natural even around areas like the hands and feet.  No one will ever guess it's a spray tan! 

Do you have to have an outdoor area for a mobile spray tan?

No, our booths are portable and contain all overspray so we can tan you at any location indoors or out!  Also, Chic Bronzing now has a Sunless Tan Studio location available for our clients, located just north of I-25 on Colorado Boulevard.

What do people usually wear to get tanned?

Women tan in swimsuits, their bra and underwear, or most commonly--a thong.  Women who are concerned with tan lines often decide to tan nude.  Men wear either their swimsuit or underwear.  If you are under 18, Chic Bronzing requires that a swimsuit be worn during the tan.
